WL//WH Premiere: DETLEV HOLTZ “Homo Demens” [NOTTE BRIGANTE]

WL//WH Track Premiere DETLEV HOLTZ

At a time when experience is bought for want of being lived, Detlev Holtz, half of the very cool wave duo Uberspannung, conveys his determination not to erase the traces of the past. Coal deposits, mining operations and other coal dust feed his work and transport us to the subsoils of Northern France. Watch out for “coup de grisou” and remember to keep your head down in the galleries!

WL//WH is pleased to premiere “Homo Demens” from the upcoming debut album “Dans le Nord”  from Strasbourg‘s artist Detlev Holtz.

Inspired by the French philosopher Jean Vioulac, the lyrics see humans as degenerate or dysfunctional animals who consciously act, against their own naturalness.

A torturous indwelling driven by a densely emotive leftfield synth-laden meandering through shuffling and thudding drum programming, buzzing low end throbbings, obsessive glassy synth stabs and shivering reedy accordion-like nostalgic melodies, surround urgent restless vocals, steadfastly pushing through a ceiling of submersion.

Detlev Holtz‘s first album, “Dans le Nord”, is slated for release, in a limited edition of 50 cassettes & Digital, on September 20th, via Notte Brigante label’s Bandcamp.
