WL//WH Premiere Dark Fidelity Hi Fi Bricolage

Two years on, from his “Formations” full-length, Dark Fidelity Hi Fi (DFHF), the music project of Manchester-based Electronic producer Rick Jones, returns to the Scottish label Bricolage with a new studio album, “Your Skyline Correspondent” scheduled for release on June 26th.

It’s been a busy couple of years for the Mancunian producer. 2025 saw a constant string of live shows up and down the country alongside the rush of starting up a host of new nights on his local scene. Unfortunately, however, Rick’s mother passed away last November, and it brought pause and time for rumination.

A gentle start to 2026 allowed him to start work on new music and slowly get back into performing live as the year progresses, and that brings us to the new album… “Your Skyline Correspondent” sees DFHF channel all his emotions into his music in new and unfamiliar ways. The focus on melody is stronger than ever and provides a language of its own as each track unfurls.

Don’t be fooled by the grey skyline on the cover. This is an album that shines bright. A colourful cascade of keys, pads and luminous soundscapes that are pieced together effortlessly over crystalline percussion and radiant bass. There are, of course, reflections on grief and loss, but the overarching theme is of love, memories, acceptance and optimism.

The juxtaposed emotions in the creative process bring a new layer of depth to the signature DFHF sound. The new work is, all at once, built on fragments of melancholy but swirling full of embrace and hope. A stunning new chapter in the storied career of DFHF. Glowing with warmth and atmosphere as it charts new territories for the veteran producer.

Immersive, scintillating, and uplifting, the jazz infused electronica of “Reality Landing”, WL//WH is very glad to premiere, is centered on a heady interplay between density and fluidity, where everything is in constant motion in a way that feels sensorial, vital, and deeply emotional.

Grounded on an intricate dynamic and shifting rhythmic foundation that switches in intensity and pace, with an ever-changing percussive pulse, from hypnotic, crisp rolls to an impetuous jazz fusion-like shuffling of drums, stirring a swirling atmospheric synthetic orb, to radiate in and out with prismatic yet blurry liquid expansions, nervous crystalline tinkling arpeggios, warbly brassy strains and high-pitched, fluty puffs, to metaphysically connect with insight and transcendence.

Dark Fidelity Hi Fi’s 14-track album, “Your Skyline Correspondent”, is scheduled for release, in CD & Digital formats, on June 26, 2026, via the Bricolage Label Bandcamp.
