WL//WH Premiere #7 PILGRIMS OF YEARNING
Pilgrims Of Yearning cover on “That First Wild Kiss”, that initially appeared on Venus In Furs‘ debut ‘Platonic Love & Other Stories’ (1984), is the 7th step to help us reveal, day after day, the first project from the Dark Alternative Music Collective WAVE.NOIR, entitled “My Velvet Cage”, a heartfelt tribute to the Sussex-based, UK cult band, Venus in Furs, that evolved out of the post-punk explosion of the early 80s, led by the enigmatic, yet still active frontman Times.
A bunch of contemporary dark alternative musicians such as Deus Faust, Nao Katafuchi, Emil Moonstone & The Anomalies, Human, Shad Shadows, Paris Alexander feat Eirene, Two Moons, UIU, Ash Code, and Distant Stars, and the already mentioned Pilgrims Of Yearning, are paying their respects to those sought after, unforgettable, classics.
This song according to Times’ own words “was maybe the hardest song to re-interpret, a very demanding song for any guitarist, and this interpretation is really most impressive.” The first medal came from the Venus In Furs frontman! This particular song is indeed among the most demanding tracks of the band. A very busy song in all in a very ‘weird’ atmosphere all over it…and damn me, the trio from Boston literally blew me away with their cover. Ηere, they needed tones of imagination, nerve, and great composure too. I am speechless with the result and I urge you to listen loud this one as the Chilean–Bostonians tried and succeeded in creating the ultimate shoegaze-oriented twist in Venus In Furs‘s music!!!
Keep up with WAVE.NOIR:
