WL//WH Premiere #6 Paris Alexander feat Eirene
Paris Alexander (feat. Eirene)‘s cover on “Snowscape”, that initially appeared on Venus In Furs‘ debut ‘Platonic Love & Other Stories’ (1984) is the 6th step to help us reveal, day after day, the first project from the Dark Alternative Music Collective WAVE.NOIR, entitled “My Velvet Cage”, a heartfelt tribute to the Sussex-based, UK cult band, Venus in Furs, that evolved out of the post-punk explosion of the early 80s, led by the enigmatic, yet still active frontman Times.
A bunch of contemporary dark alternative musicians such as Deus Faust, Nao Katafuchi, Emil Moonstone & The Anomalies, Human, Pilgrims of Yearning, Shad Shadows, Two Moons, UIU, Ash Code, and Distant Stars, and the already mentioned Paris Alexander feat Eirene, are paying their respects to those sought after, unforgettable, classics.
Paris Alexander is a singer, songwriter, and music producer based in Brighton, UK. A long time collaborator with Antipole, who has co-written, sung on and produced their last two albums. Here, he takes the “Snowscape” classic by Venus in Furs, and with help from Eirene on vocals, he presents an amazing cover of the song. Initially, it was a down-tempo and a bit of a no-wave oriented tune by Venus In Furs’, and was apparently sounding like their own influence from and an original dedication to The Velvet Underground. A bit of an abstract song it was, sleazy, and anthemic by all means old firm post-punk! But Mr Alexander re-envisioned it on a certain mid-tempo pace and with a compact and a clear postpunk-meets-synthwave prospect, the result is absolutely amazing and another great cover in this fabulous collection. Here we go!!!
