Following last week’s first foretaste “Christine”, with Halloween upon us, the Mid-80s formed longstanding Richmond, VA based Indie-Poppers The Silent Boys give us a fun DIY video for the second single, “Driftwood”, off their forthcoming 8th album, “Sand To Pearls, Coal To Diamonds”, scheduled for release next week via Brest‘s French independent label Too Good To Be True Records.
No tricks here, only bouncy and timeless Jangle Pop treats.
Lost, subtly unnerving, wandering guitar melodies wax and wane through a nostalgic tide of tinkling chimes over a swaying carpet of sinuous warm bass line pulses and light skipping beats, slathered by humming keyboard washes, whilst anxious lovelorn vocals evoke angsty lyrical confession about an old flame, left obsessing alone in insecure moods.
Holiday-themed visuals capture the dueling dance moves betwixt a groovy skeleton and The Silent Boys. An immersive collage of spooky animations, a candid beach performance, and a slew of little ghouls and goblins set the stage for a thoughtful DIY Halloween video accompaniment.
The Silent Boys‘ 8th LP, “Sand To Pearls, Coal To Diamonds” is due to be released, in ltd. CD & Digital formats, on November 4, 2022, via Too Good To Be True Records, on pre-order on the label’s Bandcamp.
