WL//WH New Music Tales of Moon
Three longtime stalwart musicians of the French indie scene and huge aficionados of mainly British guitar pop sound since the 80s onwards, team up in the new collaborative project Tales of Moon.
Olivier Boutry (Few Border, Shoreline Stories), Thierry Haliniak (My Raining Stars, Meyverlin), & Maud Platiau-Bourret (Maud Anyways), share songwriting and vocal duties on the forthcoming debut 6-track EP, “The Meaning,” due out on May 16, 2025 via Too Good to Be True, as part of the label’s 2025 EP series.
The first excerpt and title track, “The Meaning,” is accompanied by a video by Maud Anyways.
“Through virtual sessions and a shared love of melodic pop, they have crafted a six-track EP that blends the spirit of ‘80s Manchester, shoegaze, and infectious dream pop. With shimmering guitars, mesmerizing digital rhythms, and distinctive vocals, Tales Of Moon explores themes of connection, introspection, and artistic discovery.”
“The Meaning”, a song that contemplates the notion of God, or a Higher power than humanity, through a lens of truth and design, unfolds poignant atmospheric piano keys woven with a subtly pitter-pattering, skipping percussive flow, studded with sad looping spirals of icy twinkling synth melodies, introspective sparkly guitar reverb, and sullen sonorous bass pulses, to lift layered group vocals of vulnerable intimacy and longing, into a shivering expanding immersion of heavenly glows.
A thought-provoking video, created by Maud Anyways herself, captures the essence of “The Meaning” by mixing dreamy, natural outdoor scenes with crowded urban imagery to expose the mechanical flow of modern life. The clip is absolutely soul-stirring and will surely motivate people to go outside and enjoy the sunshine with a special person, a pet, or perhaps a solo nature walk.
Tales of Moon‘s debut “The Meaning” EP [TooGood 34] will be available as a limited edition 3″ CD and digitally on May 16, with preorders starting on May 2 via the Too Good to Be True label’s Bandcamp.
