WL//WH New Music: SEX CODE feat. SANTI REX “Oblivion” (Official Video)

WL//WH New Music SEX CODE

Sex Code, the Spanish Dark Wave/Post Punk/Synth Pop trio from Seville and Malaga, made up of Juan Sanmar (vocals), MJ (keyboards), and Mist3rfly (programming, bass), follow their debut LP “Pleasure” with an emblematic video by Atk Epop, Ruth Rebollo, and Mist3rfly, for last September’s single  “Oblivion”,  featuring the vocals of Santi Rex from the legendary Zaragoza band Niños del Brasil.

The intense and dangerous “Oblivion” bounces relentlessly through urgent punching snare beats, punctuated by pulsing and humming dismal basslines, enveloped by obsessive whirlwinds of ethereal sparkling guitar flourishes, and dazzling cinematic synth auras, to surround a dramatic vocal interplay, fusing rapid spoken word, taunting, wicked echoes, catchy group chorus, and distorted ‘falling to pieces’ finale, with the high-intensity emotions of Gothic passion.

Thought-provoking and suggestive, the black and white visuals by Atk Epop, Ruth Rebollo, and Mist3rfly, set an evocative performance by Sex Code and Santi Rex against the on-location backdrop of Monasterio de Los Frailes in Carmona, Sevilla, España to sync perfectly with the Apocalyptic tone of the soundtrack. Edgy and traditional black-laden style, eclectic, graffiti-tagged ancient ruins, and sweeping drone photography draw the viewer into the forlorn ‘Oblivion’ of the lyricism with striking and imaginative symbolism.
