Triggered years ago by the unlikely encounter of Magnusson (guitar, voice), Frank Hagen (bass, guitar), and Oliver Polastri (drums) on the occasion of an Arctic expedition in Qikiqtaaluk, Nunavut/Canada, Pulse Park is an Indie Rock band based in Dortmund, Germany.
Following the debut LP, “Phonac Music”, in 2022 the three friends are going to drop their sophomore album, titled “First Second”, on April 19, 2024, teased by a video, by Video Artwork, for the first single “Briars”.
Briars’ is a song about difficult relationships and the strength it takes not to let them drag you down.
Falling effortlessly between 90s buzzing indie-rock and shoegaze atmospherics, a surge of restless energy ignites tight ringing mists from obsessive meandering fuzzed-out guitar riffs to shiver vigorously atop a trembling floor of limber snaking bass lines and heavy tapping drum beats, whilst emotional vocals layer numb dread with angsty cries and baritone haloes into a restless interference of dangerous moods.
Video Artwork creates a vintage-style animated collage of old newspaper clippings, art aesthetic suggestions, occult symbols, and attention-grabbing lyrics, to sync seamlessly with the sentiments of the soundtrack. Imaginative and strategic placements of symbolic imagery from a vast array of time periods and styles of dress bring forth the feelings of fear, determination, and triumph invoked by the lyrical message.
