WL//WH New Music: LILA EHJÄ “Rust”

New Music  LILA EHJÄ

After the first single, “Ghost love“, we featured a few weeks ago, Parisian DIY “Froide Wave” one-girl band Lila Ehjä drops her second teaser, “Rust”, from the upcoming sophomore album, “Clivota”, where she slows down the rhythms, leaving aside the dancey throbs, but doesn’t give up the simmering magnetic intensity and the emotional weight, dragging through the murky sludge of droning distortion and ringing forlorn riffs.

A hymn to misanthropy, “Rust” plumbs the punching depths of jagged buzzing bass lines and stumbling hypnotic percussions through a barren space of dim icy metallic stained melodies, eerie rippling synth slivers, to suddenly surge with dramatic harsh radiating guitar swells laced with high-end tearing, weeping echoes atop evocative vocals, shifting between numb alienation, ghostly cries, and restless angsty pain, falling into a vibrant emergence of powerful light.

Lila Ehjä‘s sophomore album, “Clivota”, is slated for release, Vinyl 12″ & digital, on January 3, 2024, via CROUX Records & Toutdoux Records.

Keep up with Lila Ehjä:
