WL//WH New Music: Houston’s DAY DISGUISE revisits ASYLUM PARTY’s 1988 Hit “Julia” with a Sparkling Infusion of Reverb Bliss

Track Of The Day  Day Disguise

We have already talked in the past, as well as just last week, about the dynamic and talented Houston, Texas based musician Daniel Gaona and his solo project ‘Day Disguise’, also involved in a bunch of other bands, like the shoegazers Angel Aura and the post-punkers Fading Visions and Monochrome Lover.

Right under his ‘Day Disguise’ alias, he has just released the 2-track single “Coldwave in Quarantine”, comprised of two covers, “Julia” and “La Tourmente”, as a homage to cult mid-’80s French post-punk/coldwave trio Asylum Party.

‘Julia’ was the song that got me into Asylum Party. I often found myself listening to this song during the rain as the hypnotic melody immersed me into a daydream

Split-screen personalities capture the cool and aloof vibe of the original ‘Julia’ set, including coordinated attire and attitudes, with layered, sparkling guitar melodies in lieu of the synths, that soar hypnotically into a stunning haze of shimmering shoegaze distortion atop dreamy romantic male vocal’s magnetic pull of introverted charm, while the visually rhythmic rain falls atop backyard scenery to transition the solo performance into a magical trio experience.
