WL//WH New Music: HOUSE OF LIGHT “Where Angels Fear to Fly”

WL//WH New Music  HOUSE OF LIGHT

House of Light, the nomadic cinematic rockers with roots in L.A.Berlin, and Melbourne, fronted by the Australian songwriter Justin de Vries, build anticipation for the forthcoming album, “Dysphoria,” via the Gold Coast, Aussie label Dark Escapes Music, with a still lyric video for “Where Angels Fear to Fly”, a new guitar-laden Indie Rock song based on the Eagles of Death Metal Massacre in Paris, Tibetan Book of the Dead, and ideas of Anthroposophy.

Epitomized by the first lyrical line, “In a world of opinion, light lands on nothing”, the early Radiohead-tinged song unleashes a driving rush of feverish shuffling drum beats and heavy, humming bass pulses, to fuel wailing, evocative multi-shaped guitar tones, framing the dramatic intensity of impassioned vocals that switch from dreamy allure to scathing anger, and deep emotional agony, in unison with a soul-stirring illustrated still lyric video depicting a variety of angel personalities.

Like the inspirational materials mentioned above, the pictures show angels in different states of ability; but whether bound by chains, using the chains as leverage, or carrying swords to fight monsters, all share the same purpose to guide the willing towards liberation and enlightenment.

The band will play their last show in Australia before going back to Europe, with Penny Ikinger’s Marbles, Esse & Nilstock + VJ MARINE GRADE on Friday, 13th December at Cactus Room in Melbourne. Grab the tickets in advance at this link.
