New Music  DUNKELWALD

Started around 2021 by Madrid-based musician Marco Torremocha, Dunkelwald returns in the new year as a two-piece with the addition of composer, producer, guitarist and backing vocalist Luna Jiménez.

The Spanish band blends Darkwave, Post-punk and Coldwave elements to build a moody, atmospheric and shadowy melodic sound, brimming with stern melancholy.

The new single“Los restos del incendio”, via Polypiel Records, is an apocalyptic song about the loss felt by the end of a relationship, that unleashes relentless slashing drum patterns, to drive a smouldering and solemn interweaving of sparkling wistful guitar arpeggios, buzzing low ends and a bright tapestry of stacking desolate keyboard stabs around grave, somber vocals, aching, amid high choral halos, to dive into the deep recesses of lovelorn darkness.

If you like spiritual references to the cosmos and nature, along with deciphering occult symbols, be sure to check out the visuals edited by Pilatus Video, for “Los Restos del Incendio.” It uses eclectic footage, by Sebastian Jan Swietek, Alejandro Campollo, and Nicolas Arnold, of supernatural rituals and inserts modern cyber technology, to create a thought-provoking backdrop for Dunkelwald’s song. An ancestral rites ceremony where a blood sacrifice takes place under a full moon eclipse opens a portal to an ancient timeline
