We talked about the French band Day Of Nova back in 2018 at the time of their debut EP, “Between Lights and Sky”, with a captivating, both urgent and intense sound, that fused, with good personality and emotional depth, cold evocative electronics and sharp, sometimes distorted, magnetic guitars, Indie Rock a la Bloc Party with 80s New Wave and Post-punk leanings.
The Le Mans based duo Olivier Kerdoncuff and Seb Besnier are finally back, after a long hiatus, with the first preview, “Between Us”, taken from the upcoming sophomore EP “Confused” scheduled for next December release.
The intimate and soul-stirring new single is a song about always seeking new horizons despite emotional restraints.
Infused with immersive and emotive Synth Wave elements, “Between Us” stumbles along punching beats, uncanny droning bass swells and crushed icy bright synth melodies, to stir breathless heartfelt vocal layering into a parallel dimension of cool celestial airs, pulsing melancholic chimes and shuddering, wiry, piercing guitar strains, to open a hidden portal of timeless mercurial moods.
The accompanying dreamy video by Pexels uses neon-fused prismatic overlays to build a futuristic fantasy swept in ethereal Sci-Fi bliss. Universal symbols of rigid thought forms alternate with whimsical manifestations to blur obsessive fragments into an intoxicating flow of harmonious visions. Interpretive sequences, split-screen magic, and shadowy suggestions draw the viewer into the surreal lyrical realm, where dramatic poses and hypnotic vortices pull at the heartstrings of trust and love to settle past trauma with a cathartic step forward toward fate.
