WL//WH NEW MUSIC: CARLOS COMPSON “Sedimento” (Official Video)

NEW MUSIC  Carlos Compson

Carlos Compson, the Lima-based musician, producer, composer, and prominent representative of the Peruvian Dark Rock scene, returns to WL//WH with an Official Video, directed by David Macedo, for “Sedimento, the third song on the 2023 10-track studio album “Espuria.”

As with all the songs on his albums, Carlos Compson is the sole composer and lyricist of SEDIMENTO, and performs every instrument himself — drums, guitars, bass, keyboards, arrangements, and vocals. It is a deeply personal work, crafted from his own sensitivity and creative universe, reflecting the musician’s intense artistic autonomy and vision.

Cloaked in a haunting, moody, and steadfast aura “Sedimento”” drives stacked marching drum beat and lively bass pulses under swaggering and abrasive guitar riffs and an array of spacey synth effects, to coalesce in stirring metallic mists around ominous, daring vocals, rising into a passionate elevated chorus to explore spiritual disconnection and the battle within.

With a cinematic aesthetic and introspective narrative, SEDIMENTO plunges us into an emotional universe that resonates with the wind, emptiness, and inner resistance. The video was filmed across various landscapes in Uyuni, Bolivia — including the iconic salt flats and other equally breathtaking locations — as part of an artistic quest for settings that evoke the immensity of time and the vertigo of existence. These landscapes not only provide a striking visual backdrop but also amplify the symbolic weight of the track.

The Official Video by David Macedo begins like an apocalyptic movie with Carlos Compson walking alone, dressed in his signature black attire, through the desert next to a decaying train. Then, the setting changes to showcase the truly stunning and awe-inspiring landscapes of Uyuni, Bolivia where magical, picturesque skies and extraordinary land textures converge into a miraculous, metaphysical experience.
