WL//WH New Music AMELIA AND THE HOUSEWIVES
Formed in May 2024 when Amelia met Lola at a Julie London/Peter & The Test Tube Babies tribute night at the Valley Social Centre, and decided to form a band, Brighton, UK-based female-fronted five-piece Amelia and the Housewives deliver pure rollicking DIY guitar-driven Indie-Pop style, think of The Dolly Mixture, The Heavenly, The Motorcycle Boys, The Flatmates, or fellow locals The Popguns, bustling with soulful groovy energy, hooks galore and electrifying vocalizations, to exude earnest feelings of pleasure and fun.
The band caught the attention of the longtime renowned London label Damaged Goods straightaway, through which they released the last April’s quickly sold-out infectious debut 2-track 7″ vinyl single “Maybe”.
The still unreleased, “Summer’s Over” is a bittersweet song about the end of Summer, both buoyant and sunshiny yet with just the right amount of melancholy, a perfectly paced fusion of bouncing drums, lithe hearty bass lines, sparkling guitars, awash in ringing wistful melodies, and shivering organ layers, sung by deeply vibrant female vocals, haloed in honeyed backing harmonies, to pull the heartstrings with warm nostalgia.
In the captivating DIY visuals, from a colorful boutique to the windy seashore, and finally, toward a stirring sunset, Amelia and the Housewives perform “Summer’s Over” with heartfelt intentions.
Keep up with Amelia and the Housewives:
