After The Sin, the Poznań, Poland-based ’80s influenced Dark Wave trio made of Natalia Kołodziej aka Nana (vocals, keyboards, lyrics, visual identity), and founding members Andrzej Szymko aka Oland (vocals, bass guitar, keyboards, compositions), and Tadeusz Piekarski aka Thad (guitars), tease once again their forthcoming sophomore album with a video by ‘Nana’ herself for the second single “Morning Blue”, a dark journey to the edge of wakefulness and sleep.
Dark and brooding dance vibes pulse hypnotically along a sonorous, chugging bass loop, with clattering, lashing programmed beats, anchoring dual male/female vocals of ghostly pain and haunted angst beneath resonant, daring key stabs, sorrowful synth melodies, and dire, gloomy swells, swirling hopelessly with moody, emotional atmospheric intensity.
In the Official Video by Nana herself, it’s raining outside, and everything looks grey and sinister. The raindrops bounce off the rooftop and puddles, with Rorschach-esque reflections hold focus. Charcoal grey clouds billow ominously behind geometric urban structures, whilst bold lyrics reveal a wretched “Morning Blue” feeling after waking up from a terrifying dream. Blurry translucent overlays of slow-blowing drapes take a recognizable form amidst rapid intersecting flows of forested mirror imagery to seamlessly evoke the clash of realities explored by the soundtrack.
