Karlův Týn is the cold-pop side-project of Russian gothic rock band GIANT WAVES, which released albums on the same label of Molchat Doma and Ploho, fresh from releasing last April their debut LP ‘Мерцание’ via Young & Cold Records, when the whole of Europe, Russia included, were in lockdown.
Inspired by ’80s pop music, Soviet Wave, apocalyptic folk lyrics, European Christian mysticism, and Russian poetry, the Karluv Tyn project started in 2017 taking their name from a famous large gothic castle founded 1348 by Charles IV, in order to emphasize the dark atmosphere of the songs and the west Slavic culture, along with the intention to provide Eastern block post-punk/coldwave music to a bigger European audience.
Finally, Karluv Tyn is glad to present the LIVE Set from the album “Мерцание”, streaming on Facebook, Friday, JUNE 5, 2020 (22:30 UTC+04).
