WL//WH Track Of The Day Gloomhead
Following their early 2025 single, “Adored,” San Francisco, CA-based Alternative Rock / Doom-Gaze outfit Gloomhead, made of James Lang (Guitar), Marta Alvarez (Vocals), Harrison Taylor (Bass), Chris Grant (Drums), and Sam Shuler (Guitar), starts the new year with the new double A-side single “Drain / Unwind, Unravel.”
Treading the gloomiest and shadowy past and modern Shoegaze patterns with grungey undertones, the five-piece depicts immersive and haunting, atmospheric guitar-laden soundscapes replete with emotive dynamic shifts, teetering between buzzing swarms of aggressive, cathartic chord progressions and languid, melancholic tensions, enhanced by the sinuously entrancing, tormented, soulful vocals that pull at the heartstrings with intimate heartfelt delivery.

In “Drain”, emotional female vocals, lost under an agonizing blanket of crunchy distortions, amidst urgent resonant washes of buoyant counterpoints and obsessive despairing dives, lose color and passion, layered with echoey whispers, then soar into pain-filled cries of hopelessness and resignation.
Driven by steady plodding drums and humming bass lines, “Unwind, Unravel” ushers wistful ringing guitar melodies interspersed with fuzzy, expansive riffs that seethe and roar against compelling, moody female vocals, bridging fearful pain with melancholic harshness to delve into the duality of falling down.
Gloomhead will play the EP RELEASE PARTY on Valentine’s Day at San Francisco‘s Neck of the Woods with Oxide and Whine.
Keep up with Gloomhead:
