Having made quite a name for himself under the Visonia moniker, with a fine atmospheric, noir-ish cold blend of Detroit techno, electro-pop, minimal wave, coldwave, and ambient, toeing the line between sublime melancholy and forlorn romanticism, some of you certainly will remember his precious collaboration with Dopplereffekt in 2014, Warsaw-based electronic music producer born out of Chile, Nicolas Estany returns with a new duet project along with chanteuse and lyricist Kika Stepa, called 9ToEarth.
“Nobody Around Us” is the first taste of the duo’s upcoming EP “Kogarashi Tales”, vinyl and digital, through Artificial Intelligence label.
Poignant, gripping and seductive soulful vocal harmonies unveil profound passions and secret emotions, bursting with pain, anxieties, and inner turmoil, pierced by an unsettling and hallucinogenic, industrial-tinged, dark analog concoction of rattling and buzzing electronic effects, cold gleaming reverberations and sharp rhythmic distortions.
Ominously turbulent, and simmering deep percussive bass palpitations relentlessly creep through steady terse whipping snares and sparse solemn resonant drum beats, interspersed by hissing, crackling and popping noises, wrapped up in desolate deep swathes of icy cold synth, as restrained impassioned heartfelt vocals soar in achingly emotional intensity, lost in hidden loneliness and hopeless desperation, sorely transfixed heart and soul.
