We start the new year from where we’d finished : Melbourne, Australia, a dark electronics solo project by Bensen Thomas called Quall.
“Trauma”, featuring the guest vocals by Jerico Wallace, is the initial track and preview from the forthcoming self/titled debut EP due out next Tuesday, a gloomy and visceral slab of electronic darkwave with industrial leanings.
Cavernous layers of clanging, distorted industrial pads, repetitive heavy clashing beats and droning bassline evolve and pulse around hypnotic and fluttering female vocal loops in contrast with deep detached gripes creating ominous and smouldering swathes of tension and isolation, in a blissfully cacophonous and claustrophobic lair of despair and bleak sensuality.
