I did really enjoy the very promising self-titled debut 4-track EP (here) from New Jersey based 4-piece band Primitive Lips at the start of the year, via Like Young Records. Marked by a poignant sparkling yet hazy reverb jangly guitar driven sound melding sombre yet energetic post-punk and brooding melancholic new wave, succeeding in the arduous attempt to be constantly fresh, intriguing and melodic dripping with dark and bittersweet emotions.
The band has dropped few days ago a new single “Image of Truth” embedded in an intricate and hypnotic tapestry of jangly guitar strains weaving murky and blurred melodies laced with a sense of euphoric melancholia, underpinned with deep pulsing bass, urgent tight drums and enveloping icy synth. The beautifully romantic, soaring and endearing vocals bring forth a fresh sense of truth and honesty not usually explored. In a warm cozy familiar safe atmosphere, love and self esteem flourish in this quivering and riveting slice of post-punk brilliance.
Keep up with Primitive Lips :
