Video Of The Day Haiku Garden

‘Pioneers of Slovenian shoegaze’, the 4-piece band from LjubljanaHaiku Garden, made of Anže Knez (drums), Matevž Bitenc (bass guitar), Klemen Tehovnik (electric guitar, vocals, synths), and Luka Flegar (electric guitar, vocals, acoustic guitars, 12-string guitars), churn out an equally introspective and dynamic, as it is reflective and noisy sound that thrives on the heady fringes of Shoegaze, Indie Rock, Kraut, Post-punk and Psychedelia.

The quartet have dropped a music video, directed by Tomaž Šantl, for, “Structures”, the third single off last year’s sophomore 43 minute-long-album, “Loose Contacts/Tense Present”, via KAPA Records.

Pensive lyrics confess confusion, fear, and sadness at the hands of a powerful force whose tragic indifference toward others breeds eternal feelings of helplessness, abandonment, and insecurity.

Channelling Tame Impala’s meandering introspection, warped surreal moods float on multi-layered mesmeric waves of subtly blurry, shimmery reflecting guitar riffs, light strums, and obsessively tinkling echoing resonances, underpinned by soft shifting beats along with sinuous warm bass pulses, into a muffled detached liquid realm around dreamy melancholic vocal longing, shifting into piercing emotional cries, amid vibrant poignant swells and urgent piercing wailing leads, before returning to the dreary heaviness of broken connections.

Thought-provoking visuals, directed by Tomaž Šantl, stars Tena Skokić, Valerija Kelava, and Haiku Garden in a trippy Alice and Wonderland-tinged coming-of-age tale. A solo journey down an old beaten, enchanted wood path opens a dizzying portal to a reflective universe of off-kilter proportions, accelerated time-lapsed momentums, and distorted angular perceptions to sync seamlessly with the emotional swings of the soundtrack.
