WL//WH New Music: GRAUSTUFE WEST “Paris” (Official Video)

Established in 2019, Graustufen West is a German three-piece from Trier and Cologne, made up of Johannes Felz, Max Gemmerich, and Frank Adames, that delivers a driving and catchy Indie Pop sound taking cues from 80s Neue Deutsche Welle and New Wave.
The band has dropped an evocative video by Blackgate Media for the new single “Paris”, taken from the upcoming 5-track EP “Gold”, blending sad memories from ‘La Ville Lumièr’ with a dazzling and rich soundscape to create moods of surreal disenchantment.

“Paris” captures the intense, vibrant electricity of the renowned city’s lights through lush swirling rains of chiming, twinkling, and blowing synth chords, driven by a warm prominent bouncy bassline along with urgent drum beats, whilst compelling heartfelt vocals release hopeless breaths of mercurial melancholy from bright, rushing bursts and surges of fading amorous feelings.

A symbolic video by Blackgate Media perfectly captures the sentimental vibes of the soundtrack by layering an emotional performance with a vintage haze and rousing red roses. Creative camera work, a minimal personalized set, and dramatic energy puts the final touches on the vision, to stir the soul with warm and fuzzy nostalgia from retro 80s grooves.

Graustufen West‘s upcoming 5-track EP “Gold” is due on March 31, 2023, in ltd. colored Vinyl 12″ format, already available on the band’s Website.
