Established in 2010, Autonomistas is a longstanding Alternative / Post-Punk duo from Buenos Aires, Argentina, made up of Daniel Abarquero (vocals, guitars) and Rodrigo Abarquero (bass), who drop a symbolic video for the new single “Mi lado mas feliz / My Happiest Side” taken from the forthcoming fifth studio album due out in March 2023.
Dedicated to Catherine and Venezia, the song evokes a romantic ’80s nostalgia reminiscent of New Order /Psychedelic Furs and The Church, blending sparkling bittersweet guitar melodies with steady drum beats and warm throbbing bass lines, into comforting and immersive cinematic swathes around reflective emotional vocals, longing in breathless harmonies for “My Happiest Side.”
A wonderfully imaginative video syncs seamlessly with the whimsical vibes of the soundtrack by using a creative set design cast in esoteric symbols and animated creatures, to surround a heartfelt performance with surreal sights. Interactive overlays bend the mind’s eye of fantasy with the awe-inspiring beauty of God’s creation to erase dull grey moods with vibrant, hopeful visions.
