WL//WH Video Of The Day: ROBERT CHURCH & THE HOLY COMMUNITY “MVP”

Video Of The Day   ROBERT CHURCH & THE HOLY COMMUNITY

Stockholm, Sweden’s dreamy/lo-fi/Indie act Robert Church & The Holy Community return, after a string of four singles, with a retro video clip for a new reverie “MVP.”

The signature sentimental lo-fi textures we have come to expect from this band magically open a portal into the 90s with warped icy bright, chiming melodies, skipping drum beats, and Peter Hook-tinged low sonorous bass lines, washing light airy vocal airs with soft whimsical waves of melancholy and bliss.

Evocative visuals take a stroll down memory lane using a vintage audio advertisement to extract lost moods of wonder, awe, and endless creativity as a salesman explains how a high-tech cassette recorder can capture the sound of different instruments. The visuals sync wonderfully with the liminal space of the soundtrack, whilst the lyric overlay pulls the listener into the inner longings of old band playing days.
