Your Gaze is a one-man guitar-laden project based in Nashville, Tennessee toeing the line between shoegaze and noise-rock with 80’s goth and space rock undertones, seamlessly shifting from sheer noise to blissed-out atmospherics.
WL//WH is pleased to premiere the video for the song “Star Burner” taken from Your Gaze‘s forthcoming sophomore album “In Gloom”, produced, mixed, and mastered by Australian, London-based musician Sam Nicholas, a.k.a. Corrections, due out in July 2019 on limited Cassette Tape and Compact Disc via Denver’s Forbidden Place Records.
Equally mesmerizing and intoxicating despite hazy layers of latent claustrophobia, reverberating piercing distorted guitar riffs vibrate and slither, underpinned by splash-cymbal infused subdued drums, drifting into bristling sombre rousing melodies engulfing drowsy vocals doused in fear waiting for the inevitable cold dismal clouds to roll through.
A song about the winter blues, love, and finding happiness. As the days get shorter and the temperature drops someone is yearning for the sun to shine and disintegrate the looming shadows cast by the winter horizon. A special friend is more than happy to help warm the frigid nights with a magic gift revealed in the stars.
The accompanying video uses underwater photography, flashing lights, and colourful editing to transform a man playing the guitar into an other-worldly experience. Blurry undefined features swirl with indefinite boundaries causing hair to stand on end slashing through the air as dim dainty lights illuminate the guitar riffs, and coloured shapes fall to create texture set against the backdrop of a swimming pool with a guitar player and a cassette deck!
