WL//WH Track Of Day: IOANA IORGU “The Wife”

WL//WH Track Of Day  IOANA IORGU

Independent music producer, a self-taught guitarist and drummer based in Groningen, The Netherlands, Ioana Iorgu, has unveiled another glimpse from her forthcoming second album “Mean Time”, the follow up to last November’s 7-tracker“Thick Skin”.

The Romanian-native, as the name suggests, together with the valuable support of fellow Joris Boerma on drums, draws from boisterous Noise-Rock, reverberating Shoegaze and dark broody Post-Punk to build a steady simmering tension that wanders amidst tormented and forlorn pensive introspections and energetic bursts of cathartic lacerating distortion, dripping with enshrouding darkness over disjointed yet seductive spoken-word poetry vocalisations.

A murder story, the doomgaze new single “The Wife” betrays a secret life of blood, tears, and violence through an intimate confession of shattered shame.

Slow, dragging drum beats chug along at a cold pace with magnetic stacks of sharp guitar riffs to carve eerie wicked moods of lonesome melancholy, oscillating relentlessly into sparkling and despairing hypnotic ponderings, swelling in noisy, turbulent and sweeping dramatic eruptions laced with anguished and whining piercing strains, to echo languid, broken vocals stretching over tumultuous sways of abrasive pain and suffering, to barely release haunted hidden whispers into a ruthless surge of murderous memories.

A raw, doomy and heartfelt guitar-fueled thoroughly disturbing yet compelling listen.

Keep up with Iona Iorgu:
