Video Of The Day AprilBlue
Since 2018, Tokyo, Japan’s J-Pop 5-piece AprilBlue, made up of Funadori Haruki on lead vocals & lyrics, Azusa Suga (For Tracy Hyde) on guitar, vocals & music, Murakami Kai (I Saw You Yesterday/Inner Wall), Yuki Muraoka (ARAM) on bass, and Junichiro Miyazawa (17 years old and the Berlin Wall) on drums, have been making “bittersweet and floating melodies with the sensibility of the Tokyo Indie era” through a heady blend of Dream-Pop, Indie Rock and Shoegaze, to get lost in.
The band has dropped an evocative video, directed by Azusa Suga, for the heartbroken grungy pop single “言の葉の国| Land of Words.”, the last of their monthly four-single series that brings the quintet to explore new sonic domains.
Nostalgic noisy distorted textures ebb and flow through rolling drum beats, windy rumbling bass lines, bright sparkling piercing guitar melodies, and abrasive riffs into chaotic emotional outbursts around the sincere dreamy beauty of female vocal longings, swimming angstily into the bittersweet shifting sands of time.
An imaginative video by Azusa Suga creates a wonderfully inviting flow of colorful romance around a heartfelt performance to draw the viewer into the heartachy yearnings of the tumultuous soundtrack. Soft and sentimental pastel hues cloak a simple retro-vintage set in whimsical moods whilst intimate camera shots and split screen imagery expand visions from a hopeless romantic state of mind into a poetic lovelorn fantasy.
