PICKS OF THE WEEK:
  • UK 5-piece dream pop band from Bristol, Stay Lunar ~ “I Like It When You’re Around” on SAM Records

New single for Bristol‘s unit, rife with dreamy guitar indie-pop of intoxicating immediacy and crystalline elegance, concocts a dizzying wax and wane of distorted guitar riffs laced with sparkling echoing emotive melodies and reverberating uplifting surges of urgent melancholy, imbued by nostalgic heartfelt vocals drawing angsty breaths of love and longing whilst finally committing to a life-long love-friendship.

  • Wisconsin experimental /electronic pop artist Kendra Amalie AKA Kendraplex “Live in a Car” single

Wisconsin sound experimentalist delves into mesmerizing yet rippling ethereal electronic pop territories, to compel spirals of hypnotic icy bright synth arpeggios, and sparse serene fluting resonances to glide over subtle bass line vibrations and light percussive feels, layered with airy breaths, blowing poetic fantasies of aloof anxiety into minimal guitar disruption’s scathing pain.

  • Mageland, Indonesia C86 /twee /indie pop band Tossing Seed “Fall of Sweet Pea” off upcoming debut EP

Here is a leftover from the very last days of 2022 we missed, Indonesian 80s/early 90s influenced Indie-Pop 5-piece with a straightforward live recorded raw first tune from the band’s forthcoming debut EP, with nods to the Subway Organization/C86 heyday, to combine a rickety and resonant evocative array of tambourine-fuel shaking rhythms, ringing distorted guitar riffs, obsessively sparkling high-pitched wistful melodies over nostalgic heartfelt vocal ache into a bittersweet, anthemic melancholy of relationship blues.
