Track Of The Day EARTHLY REMAINS
The Toronto, Ontario based new solo project (Fka Saucer Eyes), Earthly Remains, delivers a familiar fresh and heartfelt guitar rock, without lacking energy, sentiment and vibrancy, at times sparkling, resonant and sharp with a jangle-pop flair, others hypnotic, strummed and reflective imbued with a 90s lo-fi slowcore, dream-pop aesthetic.
The title track from the Earthly Remains‘ debut 4-track EP, “Wolves” is laced with mournful lyrics that reflect on the vile distorted ways of inverse wisdom to evoke mistrust, sadness, and regret.
Capturing shimmering and chiming guitar tones of the ’80s from bands such as The Smiths, The Pretenders and The Soft Boys, strewed throughout by brisk bouncy rhythms to propel a chilling and wandering swarm of vibrant 6-string riffs and rippling sparkling wistful melodies waxing and waning around nostalgic, bittersweet vocals dwelling in heartfelt sorrows, disgusted observations, and meandering disenchantments to slip desperately through a late twisted bottomless sense of melancholy and shame.
A punchy, deeply melancholic and captivating track.
