In recent years, Texas seems to be a hotbed of interesting young shoegaze and noise rock bands, not only from the usual Austin but from all over the state, Angel Aura, Dottie, Astragal, Blushing, Daze, Rei Clone, just to name a few, often appear on these pages.
From the Northern part, namely Dallas, come the 4-piece AUDIOBATON, who deftly bring a shoegaze-infused noise rock sound with grungey leanings, seamlessly blending the majestic distorted 90s guitar sound with rich enveloping layers of echo and reverb.
Following last year brilliant debut EP “Where You Are”, the band have just dropped the new single “Wonder”.
Equally dense and spacious, as it is energetic and vulnerable, “Wonder” unleashes, underpinned by steady, solid rhythms, a dizzy, hazy flurry of abrasive fuzz, both discordant yet entrancing, chillingly rubs against your skin like a cat wanting to be pet, suddenly to outburst in whirling searing wails, over drowsy melancholic vocals floating in a deliciously ecstatic wondering, steeped in stuttering reverberation.
