Toronto‘s multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, as well as make his mark in the past year with his main alternative, shoegaze project Soft Wounds, his shoegazey, noisy solo alias Slowly and the loud dreamy rock trio Tonemirror, opens the new year with the debut full-length under his brand new solo moniker With Hidden Noise, exploring “the more minimal side of songwriting, inspired by the sounds of slowcore, post rock, shoegaze and dreampop”.
Titled “Beside the Sea”, the album contains 8 tracks “written and recorded over a series of dark, cold winter nights in the Arctic wastes and frozen forests of Canada“, and is going to be released on January 18th via Lossleader Records.
One of the first two previews, “Look” unfurls drowsy spacious reverb-infused shimmering guitar notes, deep bass lines, muffled yet pounding drums kick into gear, as the ethereal dismal and whiny vocals weighty with forlorn emotions, float and ebb together with sideways slivers of wistful chiming guitar melodies to form an hypnotic feel of magnified intensity and profound melancholy. A remote cascade of piano notes, increasingly on the foreground, instils further pathos to a moving lament of long vanished dreams, faded hopes, impassionate desires, and bygone lovers.
Keep up with With Hidden Noise :
