The one-track debut single “American History” from Melbourne via London “Melodramatic Slow Pop” solo project Blue Vanity, dates back August 2015.
After a long three years hiatus a following in the form of a new 5-track EP, titled “Europa Nights”, has finally been released synth-drenched hazy and introspective sound blurring the lines between dream-pop and chillwave.
Named after the infamous main street of Rome, “Via Veneto” is made of deeply atmospheric and mesmerizing swathes of synth soaked in reverb, conterpointed by piano notes fill the trance-inducing atmosphere as cold and melancholic as it is warm and enveloping. Smooth vintage drum machine beats and the luring, ethereal pensive voice sadly reminise and wonder about what became of his love along oneiric synthetic horizons of sorrow and hopeless until gleams of twilight fade into obscurity.
Emotional lyrics are rife with themes of beauty, age, and vanity amplified by highly sophisticated, subtle and thoroughly immersive pristine sound.
