With a large number of shoegaze bands often too similar to each other, finally something fresh, strident and imaginative from the Russian experimental guitar-driven duo of Denis Semishkin (voice, guitar, bass) and Daniil Semishkin (drums), a.k.a. Castletroy from Saint Petersburg.
With already four albums behind them, the band has just released the new full-length ‘Электрическое Тело Кричу / Electrical Body Screaming’.
‘Тропы’ typifies their rare ability to channel, into a pattern of reverb-infused shoegazing guitar layers and wicked beats, different elements from post-hardcore, post-punk and emo, creating sheets of abrasive noise and cascades of melodic twinkles, transforming into something that sounds imperfectly gripping and impressively aloof but visceral and highly addictive.
Keep up with Castletroy:
